Study on the Impact of Sodium Hypochlorite Addition Before Filtration on the Quality of Effluent Water in Water Treatment Plants

Abstract: Taking the raw water ofa waterworks in Taizhou city, Jiangsu province as the research object, the turbidity,permanganate index,free residual chlorine,and trihalomethanescontent of the treated water were measured bydiffrent pre fltration sodium hypochlorite dosages,and the optimal chlorine dosage was determined based on this.The results showed that when the chlorine dosage was 16kg?h-1 , the turbidity and permanganate index significantlydecreased,the fre residualchlorineattheendofthepipelinereachedthe standard,andthe generationof trihalomethanes was significantlyreduced.The total chlorine dosage was moderate,efectivelyreducing the treatment costand the productionof disinfection by-products,providing a scientific basis for the safe and stableoperation of the water plant.
