The introduction of new media technology into higher education activities provides all-round supportfor the inovation of educational concepts，resources，teaching methods，and evaluations，and hasbcome an important means for higher educational reform incollgesanduniversities.Research shows that new media technology has important application significance in physical education teaching，which can build harmonious clasrooms，enhance the educational nature of physical education learning， enrich teaching content，improve the pertinenceof physical education teaching，expand learning channels，and break the temporal and spatiallimitations of physical education teaching. Currently，the application ofnew media in physical education teaching in colleges and universities faces many challenges，mainly including insufficient professional competenceof teachers in new media technology，lagging update of new media teaching resources，relatively monotonous new media teaching forms，and insuficient interactive feedback innewmedia teaching.On this basis，inordertoenhance thequalityof physical education teaching in collgesand universities empowered bynew media technology，effrts can be made to strengthen the application of new media technology，promotethe integration and development of teaching resources，innovate

teachingforms，and emphasize interactive feedback in teaching.Multiple measures canbe taken to jointly promote the improvement of physical education teaching qualityin colleges and universities.
