Abstract:InSeptember2020,China formallysetthegoalsachievingcarbonpeakingby2030carbonneutralityby2060. Asanovelenvironmental protectionemissionreductionmeasure,thecarbon tradingmarkethasbeen increasinglyaplied worldwide.Inthecontextgrowingcorporateatentiontoenvironmentalcostmanagementcontrol,thispaperaimstoexamine whethertheemergencethecarbontradingmarketprovidesenterpriseswithamorefcientcost-efectivesolutionfor achieving low-carbonobjectives.Usingpaneldatafrom2014to2023publiclylistedcompaniesinChina'spowersector,the studyanalyzestheimpactcorporateparticipationincarbontradingonenvironmentalcosts.Tefindingsindicatethatparticipation inthecarbontradingmarkethasa positiveimpactonreducing environmentalcostsforpowercompanies.Itplaysa crucialrole inoptimizingcarbonemissonalocation,exploringthepotentialthecarbontradingmarket,helpingcompaniesachieve low-carbonemisionreductiongoals.Therefore,itisesentialtosupprtpromotecarbonemissonmarketpoliciestoreduce theenvironmentalcostspowercompaniescreateaharmoniousmutuallbenefialsituationforboththeenvironment the economy.
