Abstract：Exploringtheculturalroleofcelebritiesininternationalfriendshipcities helpscitymanagersunderstandmoredeeply howculturalresonancefulfisthecommonvaluepursuitsofcitydiplomacySincetheestablishmentoftheinternationalfriendshipbetweenLeshanCitySichuanProvince，ChinaandIchikawaCityChibaPrefecture，Japanin1981，thetwoieshvemaintaieda goodsister-cityinteractioandcooperativerelationshipforoverfourdecades.Thoughthinvestgationoftehstoryofinteational sistercityexchangesbetweenLeshan CityinChinaandIchikawaCityinJapan，itcanbeseenthatasaculturalcelebrityrcogized bybothChinaandJapan，GuoMoruo（fromLeshan）sculturalinfluencehassurpassednationalbordersandbecomeacorelinkin promotingsistercityrelationsbetweenthetwocities.Thisstudyanalysestheroleandpracticalsignificanceof theculturalemblemof celebritiesincitydiplomacyandprovidessuggestionsfordevelopingcitydiplomacyintenewera.GuidedbyXinJiping'soghts ondiplomacy，tecuturalidentitisinteonstructinofiteratioalfrendshipcitisshouldbeeveraged，te"adolesntile" of internationalfriendshipitiesshouldbeexpanded，touchingstoriestemedonsentimentssharedbetweencitizensshouldbetold wellandtheculturalefectsofeucationshouldbeexploitedtoshapemoreesilientbondsandprovidegreaterspaceforthedevelopment of high-quality inter-city diplomacy.
