Abstract:Thisstudyivestigatedthegerminationcharacteristicsofcottonsedsunderdiferentsaltconcentrationstoprovide areferenceforimprovingsalttoleranceduring plantgermination.Usingeightcotonvarieties(H4,H18,H29,H35,H37,H38, H43andH52)asexperimentalmaterials,NaClsolutionconcentrationgradientsweresetatO.05,0.1,0.15,0.2andO.3mol/Lto determinetheefectsofNaCl stressoncotonseedgermination.UnderNaClstress,parameterssuchasrelativegerminationrate, seedfreshweight,relativegerminationpotentialseeddryweight,andrelativegerminationindexgenerallyshowedaninitial increase folowedbyadeclineassaltoncentrationincreased,indicatingthatlowsaltconcentrationspromotedseedgeination. Theresults revealed the following order of salt tolerance under NaCl stress:H4>H43>H35 > H38 > H52>H29>H18>H37. These findings provide a basis for selecting salt-tolerant coton varieties in Xinjiang's cotton production.
