AbstractObjective:Toinvestigate theefectof non-contact slep monitoringusing milimeter-waveradarfordetectingsleepapnea events. Methods:A sleep monitoring model with a 6O-64GHz frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW)radar and an algorithm platform was established.Atotal of sixpatients diagnosedwithobstructive sleepapnea(OSA)whoreceivedtreatment China-JapanFrendshipHospitalfromMarchtoJune,2O24 wereincludedinthiscinicalobservationalstudy.Themillimeter-wave radarwas positioned5Ocmabovethepatients’anteriorchest inahorizontalorientationandpolysomnographywasusedtomonitor thepatientsthroughout thenighttocolectslepdataatthesame time.ClinicalinformationanddataoftheMedicalOutcomes Study Sleep Scale(MOS-SS,Chinese version)werecolectedandanalyzed.Resultsfromthemillmeter-waveradar and polysomnographywerecomparedandanalyzed. Results:The main symptoms of the six patients were noctural snoring orsuffcation, and mostof thepatientssuffredfromhigherBMIscore, rhadahistoryofexposure totoxicsubstances, hypertension, drugorfoodallergies, oraloholconsumption. The MOS-SSresultsindicated thatOSAcouldleadtosleepdisturbances, afecting patients'sleep qualityanddaytimecognitivefunction.Underthesleepmonitoring testmodelsystem, theFMCWradar'smonitoringeffciencyfor apnea events was 52.21% ,with an average reduction in chest wall mobility of 38.92% . However, the monitoring efficiency for hypopnea events was 45.96% ,with an average reduction in chest wall mobility of 33.61% . Conclusion : The monitoring efficiency of FMCW Millimeter-wave Radar for apnea and hypopnea events was respectively 52.21% and 45.96% ,and it has a certain
effect in monitoring sleep apnea events.
