Abstract:Withtheimprovementofvoltagelevels,theinsulationproblemsofauxiliarypowertransformersusedfor independentpowersupplyinSolidStateTransformers(SSTs)havebecomeincreasinglyprominent.Iftheinsulationisnotproperly designed,seriouspartialdischargeswillbecausedresultinginisulationagingfailureandaffectingtheoraloperationof electricalequipment.Tothisend,theauthorhaveproposedatechnicalsolutionusingacombinationofmetalshieldedinsulated wiresandmagneticringsintheband.Itcannotonlyhomogenizetheelectricfielddistributionandincreasethelevelofpartial discharge,butalsoreducethevolumeocupiedbythetransformerandimprovethepowerdensityofthesystem.Bycomparing andanalyzingthecharactersticsoftheproposedauxiliarypowertransformerandtheexisting primaryauxiliarypowertransformer intermsofelectricfielddistributionandvolumeocupation,theproposedschemehasbeeverfiedintermsofoptimizingthe electric field distribution(reducing the maximum electric field value by 65 % )and reducing the transformer volume(saving the occupied space and volume by about 1/3 )
