Viewing Its Aesthetics from the Specific Selections of Wenxuan

Research 2 on Selection Criteria in Wenxuan ZHOU Chun-yan

Abstract：When XiaoTong wrote theprefaceforwenxuan，heonlypointedout theaimoftheselectionwasto“entertaintheears”and "entertaintheeys”，andthescopeofselectionwasoutof“Jing，Zi，Shi，butdidnotspecifyitsstandard.Howeverfromthetailed recordofthebook，thetreestylesof“Fu”“Shi”“Sao”tookoverthetotalnumberandthebooklength，andweremorethantheother36 typesofpracticalstyle.Tedynastytendedto“detailthenearandgeneralizethefar.Althoughitmadeanexceptionandselectedafew articlerelatedto“ZanLun”and“XuShu，itpointedthatthepremiseofbeingselectedwastheflowerylanguage.Therefore，wecan seethat theconcreterecordof Wen Xuan wasconsistent with thepreface，and thegraceof thelanguage was more importantthanthe function of the article， in all， its selection wasbased on aesthetics.
