The Zenith of Ancient Sino-Japanese Exchanges: Japanese Missions to Tang China

Abstract:Japanese missions to Tang China represent the zenith of ancient cultural exchanges betwen China and Japan,exerting profoundinfluencsonJapan'ssocialtransformationandEastAsiancivilizationalinteractions.Thisstudyadoptsadualperspective combininghistocaldocumentatioandossuluralommuicationosystematicallxaminetheistoicalontextoaatioal structure,andmultiimensionalimpactsofthesemisions.ResearchdemonstratesthatfolowingtheTaikaReformsandtheBaleof Baekgag，Japansystematicalladopted Tanginstitutionsandculturetoestablishacentralizedstate,during whichthemissions evolvedntohierarcicallyrganizedprofessionaldelegationsosemaritieroutesadaptedtoshiftingEastAsianeopliallanscapes.Intersofuluraltansmission,thsemissonsotolyacilitatedJapan’sompreesivepiticalonomicndulural transformationbutalsopromotedtheformationofaTang-centeredEastAsiancultural sphere,enablingtransmarineintegratinof technologies,arts,and ideologies.
