A Study on the Translation of Culture-Loaded Terms in Chaozhou Opera The Firewood Room Gathering from the Perspective of Transknowletology

Abstract:Asauniqueformoftraditional ChineseoperaintheChaoshanregion,Chaozhou Operafacesisuessuchasinsuffi cientranslatiompropertraslationdiconsistenttaslationinisEglishanstionorkduetopaiclarityfislan guageandtherichnessof itsculturalconotations.ThispapertakestheChaozhouOperascriptTheFirewoodRoom Gatheringasa startingpoint,imingtoexploretetranslationsrategiesforculure-ladedtesinChaozouOperatofclitateitsdssation abroad.Groundedintheteoryoftransknowletologytepaperinterprtsculture-ldedtersiTheFirewodRomGathering.According tothethreetraslationstandardsof ransknowletology—"sekingtruthforknowledge","establishingmeaningwithgoodess", and"craftingbeautyinwriting",itsummarizesthatculture-loadedtermsinChaozhou Operacanbetranslatedusing methodssuchas literaltranslationtransliterationwithanotations,andfreetranslation,whichcanectivelyconeytheculturalconotatiosof ChaozhouOpera.Thisofers valuablereferencesfortheEnglishtranslationofculturallloadedtermsinChaozhouOperaanditsinternational dissemination, thereby promoting Chaozhou Opera culture to the world.

潮劇作為潮汕地區(qū)的文化標(biāo)識(shí)和中華文化多樣性的體現(xiàn),在國(guó)內(nèi)外擁有廣泛的受眾基礎(chǔ),但其英譯卻存在翻譯不足、翻譯不當(dāng)、翻譯不統(tǒng)一等問題,一定程度上限制了潮劇在國(guó)際舞臺(tái)上的傳播與影響力[1。(剩余6065字)
