Abstract:TheAmerican literarycritic IvingHowedeclares that there isnotafullysatisfying denouement,anorganicfullmentoftheactioninthenovelsofSaulBelow,suchasHerzog.BasedonBakhtin’stheoryof tepolyphonicnovels,afteanalyzingthedetailsintenovel,thistesisputsforwardsthatIvingHowe'spointofviewisunilateal,ichhasignoredthepolonic artistic featuresofSaulBellow’snovels.Anopeninterpretationofthisnovel ircommended.Thepolyphonicfeaturesoftheentir novel,suchsoversaialaractesticsatialitychoicityenndsddingdteuceity incompletenessofthecharacterzationshouldbetakenintoconsiderationintheprocessofinterpretationoftisnovelinodeto beterunderstand thecharacteristicsofcomplexityambiguityand profundityof this noveland graspitsrichconnotation.
