The Use of the “Same Frame” Technique in Illustrations of Ancient Novels and Operas

Abstract:The useof ilustrations wasverycommoninthecreationof ancientnovelsandoperas.Ilustrations notonly provideavisualrepresentationofthecontentdepictedinthetextbutalsoenhancetheemotionalappealandatractivenessof the novelsandoperas.Amongthevarioustechniques inillustrationthe“sameframe"techniquehasacomplementaryeffect and was frequentlyusedinancient novels andoperas.This paperanalyzes theuse ofthe“same frame"techniquein illstrations,takingasexamplestheembroderedillstrationsusedinthe Qingdynastynovel ZengtuxiangzuoBenjingpingmiand the use of virtual -reality framing and light-dark framing in the Ming dynasty opera Xixiangji.
