Effects of combined application of biochar and organic fertilizer on the physicochemical properties of greenhouse soil and different vegetables growth

Abstract:Inorder tounderstandtheefectsofdiferentagricultural wasteapplicationsonsoilanddiffrent vegetable growth,a greenhouse plot experiment wasconducted withno fertilizeras thecontrol.Organicfertilizers fromcowmanure, sheep manure,and swine manure were mixed with diferent proportions of biochar( 10% 25% and 50% ). The study aimed toexplore the impactof these treatmentson thephysicochemical properties of greenhouse soils,as wellas the growth,qualityand nutrientaccumulationofChinesecabbage and pepper.The resultsshowedthatcomparedtoCK,the applicaiton of biochar combined with different organic fertilizers significantly increased soil ΔpH and organic matter content,andtheECvalueandtotalnitrogencontentofsometreatmentsweresignificantlyinreased.Comparedwith CK,the yieldof Chinese cabbage and pepper increased by 1.13%-45.49% and 5.17%-23.15% ,respectively. The 10% biochar + 90% swine manure treatment(Z10)significantly increased the yield ofboth Chinese cabbage and pepper. Compared with CK,exceptfortheY50 treatmentof Chinesecabbage,whichhadahigher nitratecontent thanCK,the nitrate content in Chinese cabbage and pepper in the other treatments decreased by 0.13%-35.08% and 2.96%-38.76% ,respectively,with some treatments showing significant diferences.The nitrogen,phosphorus and potassiumaccumulation in Chinesecabbage under 25% biochar +75% swine manure(Z25)and in pepper under 10% biochar +90% cow manure(N10) were significantlyhigher than those of theirrespectivecontrols.Considering the increase of vegetableyield and quality improvement,it isrecommended tochooseZ10treatmentforChinesecabbageandN10treatmentforpepperfertilizationunder the conditions of this experiment.
