Comprehensive evaluation of agronomic traits of pod pepper based on various analysis methods

Abstract:Inorder tosupportforbreedinghigh-yieldandhigh-qualitypeppervarieties,theinnerrelationshipbetween main agronomic traits and the yield of diferent pepper varieties was explored.Taking 34 pepper varietiesas materials,10 agronomiccharacters werecomprehensivelyevaluatedbycorrelationanalysis,multipleregressionanalysis,pathanalysis and principal componentanalysis.Theresultsshowed thatthe maximumcoeficient ofvariationoffruit numberperplant was 30.00% .Plant height and plant spread were positively correlated with the total mass of dried fruit per plant.The dry mass of single fruitand the number of effective branches were positivelycorrelated with the total mass of dried fruit per plant.Pathanalysisandregresionanalysis indicatedthatthenumberoffruitsper plant,thedrymassof singlefruit,the transverse diameteroffruit,thelongitudinal diameteroffruitandthenumberofeffective branches were themain factors affecting the total qualityofdried fruit perplant.The mainagronomiccharactersof pod peppercouldbeshorten to three principalcomponents byprincipalcomponentanalysisandfactoranalysis,includingyieldcharacterfactor,fruit shapefactor and plant height factor,and their contribution rate was 39.979% 26.783% and 13.439% ,respectively. The cumulative contribution rate of the three principal components was 80.201% . In summary,for breeding pepper varieties,we should focusonimproving plantheight,the numberoffruitsperplant,thedrymassofsinglefruit,the transverse diameteroffruit, thelongitudinal diameter of fruit and the number of effective branches.
