Abstract：Aftertheoutbreakof theWarofResistanceagainstJapaneseAggresion，theNationalistGovermmentfacedasevereresourcecrisis，cesitigadusmntsinishigheducatiopoliiesIn1938，CenLfusucedasinsteofEducatioFllowing Chiang Kai-shek'sdirectives，heimplementedamoreagresive“empasizingscienceandsuppessngliberalarts”’policythanuring WangShijie'stenure.Fourmeasueswereadopted：implementingaunifiedcolegeentranceexaminationsystem，establisingmorescience-orientedshools，introducingagovementfunddpolicyfavoringsiencesudents，andreatingtheCentralCommitefoCostuc tion-EducationooperationTisolicwaspropelledbyteoveent’swillandthistiutisofigherducation’sdevelopntal needs.Intellctua’atiudeowadstiscyevodwihirimsancs，angingfroinitialaceseettersiio Theirmaindemandswerebetertreatmenandstatus.However，inthecontextofthewar，thesedemands，complicatedbyotherfactors， were hard to fulfill.
