Abstract：Thisarticleadoptstheperspectiveoffoodanthropologytostudyherigins，customs，andculturalcharacteristcsoffsh consumptionamong theDongethnicgroupinhabitingthemountainousandhillregionsofsouthernChina.TheDongpeople’spracticeof eatingfishhasalonghistory，efletingtheiruniquegeogaphicalenvironmentandrichculturaltraditions.Living inareasabundantnwaterresources，theDongpeopleregardfishasanimportantingredietTroughfishingandaquaculturepractices，theyhaveintegateish intotheirdailydietanddevelopeddiversecokingmethods.Teirfshrelatedustomsexemplifyreverencefornatureandacomientto ecologicalconseationDuringtraditionalfestivalsdajorcelebrations，fssersothasarialferingandadlcacysboling prosperityandauspiciousess，whileexpressingaspirationsfoafulfilingife.Moreovr，fishimageryfrequntlapearsinDongfolk songsandlegends，ecominganimportantsybolofculturalidentityTisstudyrevealsthatfishisnotmerelyacorecompontofthe Dong food culture，but also a vivid embodiment of their history，customs，and harmonious coexistence with nature.
