Abstract:Inthespatial modulation (SM) technology,themaximumlikelihood(ML)algorithmoffers theoptimal demodulationperformancebyexhaustivelysearchingallposibletransmissioncombinations.However,itshighcomputational complexityrendersitimpracticalforlarge-scaleSMsystems.Toaddessthisproblem,aQC-MLdetectionalgorithmisproposed toreducecomputationalcomplexitywhilensuringdetectionperformane.FistlytheQC-MLalgorithmpreprocessstheceied signalandemploysacircular boundaryquantization method toreducethesearch spaceof modulationconstelltionsymbols associatedwitheachpotentialtransmitingantenna.Then,thesetofresultswiththesmalestMLvalueisselectedforoutput. Sincethemainideaofquantificationis tocomparemagnitudes,noaditionalcomputationalcomplexitywillbeintroducedinthis processSimulationresultsshowthatthedetectionperformanceoftheproposedQC-MLalgorithmcloselyapproximatesthatof the originalone,hileitscomputationalcomplexityiseducdsignificantly.Theeffectivenessofteproposedalgorithisverified.
