Abstract：Fingerprintrecognitiontechnologyisoftendisturbedbynoise.Intheprocessofusing waveletthresholddenoising methodtoreducefingerprintimagenoise，theselectionofthethresholdfunctionisparticularlysignificant.Therefore，anewthreshold functionwithadjustableparameters，whichisbetweentraditionalsoftandhardthresholdfunctions，isconstructed.Theewthresold functionovercomesthediscontiuityofthehardthresholdfunctionatthetresholdpoint，improvestheconstantdeviationoftheoft thresholdfunctionandcanreachzerodeviationundercertainconditions.Simulationexperimentsshowthatusingthenewthreshold functiontoremovesaltand-pepperoiseandGausianoiseifingerprintimagesduringteavelet tresholddnosingprocsults inlowerrot meansquareeroranddegreeof distorioncomparedtousingtraditionalandimprovedthreshold functions，while increasingpeaksigaltonoiseatiooelationcoeffcient，ndstrucuralsilarityindexmeasure.Tisotonlyprovidesodto improve thethresholdfunction，butalsoofersaneffctive meansforimprovingthedenoisingqualityoffingerprintimages.
