Study on the correlation between carotid plaque and severity of coronary atherosclerosis in civil aviation pilots

【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the correlation between carotid plaque and severity of coronary atherosclerosis incivilaviationpilots，and toanalyze theeffct ofcarotidplaqueonthediagnosisofcoronary heart disease and medical authentication.MethodsAretrospective analysis was conducted on 6O civil aviation pilots who underwent coronary angiography（CAG）and carotid ultrasound within7days.The Crouse score was calculated based onthelesion found incarotid ultrasound，and the pilots were divided into6 groups based onthe results ofcoronary angiography.The Gensini score wascalculated to evaluatethe coronary arterylesion，and he diffrences in Gensini scores among the groups were compared.The sensitivityand specificityof carotid plaque in diagnosing coronary heart disease were calculated.ResultsFor pilots with diferent carotid Crouse scores，there were significant differences in coronary artery Gensini scores （ P <0.05）. The more severe carotid plaque was， the worst coronary atherosclerosis tends tobe.Based on the plaqueatthe carotid，thesensitivityand specificity of diagnosing coronary heart disease were 93.8%（45/48）and 50.0%（6/12），respectively. Conclusion There is a correlation between carotid plaque and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.Carotid ultrasound can be used as asimpleand non-invasive testto assess the severityof coronary atherosclerosis anddirect medical authentication of pilots.
