Tracing the Epistemological Roots, Deconstructing the Connotations, and Reflecting on the Research of Older Adult Education

Abstract:Leveraging the efficacy of education to promote the realization of active aging is a critical issue for societal development both todayand inthe future.Central tothisendeavor is the foundational question of how to understand both“older adults”and“education for older adults.”Proceeding from thesubjectivityof the individual,thisstudy systematicall traces the evolutionof perceptions of aging throughout history,deconstructs the connotations of educationforolder adults across diffrent culturalcontexts,and reflects on the progressof research in this field.It is observed that contemporary perceptions of the“value”of old age are being reshaped.The role of“education forolderadults”inenhancing thequalityof life for the elderly,improving theeducation system,and fosteringthe healthy development of anaging society is receiving increasing recognition.Moving forward,sustained efforts are needed in clarifying the fundamental natureof education for olderadults,expanding its basic theoretical frameworks,and deepening policy research.The goal is to translate theoretical contributions into practical momentum for optimizing the governance of aging societies.
