Fault Cause Analysis of a Ship Bow Thruster

Abstract： During navigation， a ships bow thruster experienced severe vibration， rendering the equipment inoperable and compromising maneuverability and safety in restricted waters.This study conducts fault tree analysis （FTA）based on the failure symptoms and system composition. Through fault inspection， equipment disassembly， andcomponentanalysis，damaged parts were identifed，rotcauses determined，and failuremechanisms investigated. Corrective measures were formulatedand implemented，efectively resolving the malfunction，restoring equipment functionality， and ensuring ship maneuverability and safety.
