The impact of low-dose Fructooligosaccharide combined with Mesalazine on inflammation levels and therapeutic effects in elderly patients with ulcerative colitis

[Abstract]ObjectiveToanalyzethetherapeuticefects，inflammationlevels，andsafetyevaluationoflow-doseFrucooligosaccharidecombinedwithMesalazineinelderlypatientswithulcerativecolitis.MethodsNinetyelderlypatientswithulcerativeco litistreatedintheFirstteachingHospitalofXinjiangMedicalUniversityfromJanuary221toJanuaryO23wereincludedandrandomlydividedintoatreatmentgroupandacontrolgroup，with45patients ineachBothgroupsreceivedroutinetreatmentuponadmision andoralMesalazineentericoatedtabletsThetreatmentgroupaditionallyreceivedlow-doseFructoligosacchardeoalsoutionfor4 weks.Therapeuticfects，evelsofgsensitivityCreactieprotein（sCRP），nterleukin-8（I-8），andtumoreosisfactor α （2 （TNF- α ）inserum，andincidenceof adversereactions suchas nausea，vomiting，andskinitching werecompared.ResultsThetotal effective rate in the treatment group was 88.89 % （40/45），it was significantly higher than the 64. 44 % （29/45） in the control group （ P<0.05 ）. There was no significant diference in hs-CRP，IL-8，and TNF- α levels between the two groups before treatment （ P> （20 0.05）.Aftertreatment，inflammatorymarkerlevelsinthetreatmentgroupweresignificantlylowerthanoseinthecontrolgroup （ P<0.05 ）.The incidence of adverse reactions was 13. 33% in the treatment group and 11. 11% in the control group，with no significant difference between the two groups （ P>0.05 ）.Conclusion Low-dose Fructooligosaccharide combined with Mesalazine can significantlyimprovetherapeuticfectsandeduceinflammationinelderlypatientswithulcerativecolis，withahighlevelofsfety.
