Effects of exogenous proline on photosynthetic characteristics and protective enzyme system of wheat seedlings under drought stress

AbstractTo investigate theallviating efect of exogenousprolineondrought stress inwheat seedlings,wheat variety Jimai 22 was used as the experimental material, with CK and blank control set up; T1, 15% PEG-6000;T2, 15% PEG-6000+10 mmol/L proline; T3, 15% PEG-6000+30 mmol/L proline; T4, 15% PEG-6000+60 mmol/L proline, 5treatments were used tostudythe effects of different concentrationsof prolineonphotosyntheticpigments, photosynthetic characteristics,and protective enzyme systems of wheat seedlings under drought stressThe results showedthat drought stressreduced the chlorophyll content,net photosyntheticrate,and protectiveenzymeactivityof wheat seedling leaves;thecontentof chlorophylla,chlorophyllb,chlorophyll a+b,and carotenoids inwheat leaves treated with T3 was the highest, increasing by 63.95% , 74.42% , 67.44% ,and 51.35% respectively compared to T1 treatment.Thenet photosyntheticrate,transpirationrate,and stomatal conductance of leaves treated with T3 were the highest,with increasesof 38.16% , 27.50% ,and 19.63% compared to T1 treatment. The activities of superoxide dismutase,catalase,and peroxidase in the leaves treated with T3 were the highest,increasing by 47.01% , 55.15% ,and (204號(hào) 54.87% respectively compared to T1 treatment.It can be seen that exogenous proline can effctively alleviate the inhibitory efectsofdroughtstressonphotosynthetic pigments,netphotosyntheticrate,and protective enzymeactivity in wheat seedlings,withthebest effect observed ataproline concentrationof 30mmol/L
