Investigation of the date of Ye Ting's Visit to Lihuang During the Anti-Japanese War

Abstract：During theWarof ResistanceagainstJapanese Aggression，Ye Ting，commanderof theNew Fourth Army，stayedinJiangbei for morethanfour months.YeTing'striptoJiangbeiisof greatsignificanceinthedevelopmenthistoryof theNewFourthArmy，whicheffctivelypromotedthedevelopmentof theJiangbeitroopsof the NewFourth Army.However，thereare conflictingaccountsof thedateofLihuang'svisitduringYe Ting'stourof Jiangbei，andthedebate focuseson whetherYe Ting visited Lihuang inmid-MayorearlyJuly1939.Basedon the analysisof therelevanthistorical materials，thispaperholds thattheevidenceofYeTing'striptoLihuanginJuly is solid，and the diariesand telegramsofthe parties cancorroborate eachother.The theory thatYe Ting went to Lihuang in Mayhas insufficient evidence，and thereare manyloopholes inthe literature，which should becaused by memory deviation，confusion between the Gregorian calendar and the lunar calendar.
