Abstract Objective To obtain more compounds with significant biological activity,this study investigated the secondary metabolitesand antimicrobial propertiesofa strain of Streptomyces sp. GY-10129,derived from the rhizosphere soil of mangrove Acanthus ilicifolius L.in Guangxi.MethodsTechniques such as silica gel column chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography,and semi-preparative liquid chromatography were employed to isolate the secondary metabolites of this strain; spectroscopic methods were utilized for the structural identificationof theisolatedcompounds,and thefilterpaper method wasused toasesstheantimicrobialactivityof the individualcompounds.ResultsA total of 10 individualcompounds were successfull isolated from the fermentation products of Streptomyces sp. GY-10129,including 5-hydroxymethylfuran-3-carboxylic acid(1), phevalin(2), 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde(3),germicidinA(4),indole-3-acetamide(5),6-methoxy--(-phenylethyl)chromone(6),tras3,4,5-trimethoxy- .4′ -isopentenyloxyl-stilbene(7),1,3-benzodioxole derivative(8), cycloheximide(9),and 2-methyl4[3H] quinazolinone(10).compounds1,6and7were discovered in this actinomycete for the first time.The results of biologicalactivitytests showedthatcompound1hadastrong inibitory efectonStaphylococcus aureus.Compounds1and 9 showed weak antibacterial activity against Fusarium pseudograminearum. Conclusion The mangrove actinomycete Streptomyces sp. GY-10129 had the potential research value of producing antimicrobial lead compounds.
