Comparative Analysis of Energy Consumption of Grain Storage in Aboveground and Underground Granary

Abstract:[Purposes] This study aims to explore and analyze the energy consumption diferences between aboveground and underground grain storage facilities,highlighting theadvantages of underground storage in energy conservation and carbon reduction.It provides theoretical support for the development of low-energy consumption grain storage technologies and promotes the green development of the grain storage industry.[Methods] Through field research,energy consumption data from various regional grain storage facilities were collected.Theoretical analysis methods from heat transfer theory were employed to calculate the annual electricity consumption per ton of grain stored,followed by a comparative analysis with the collcted data.[Findings] The results from field research and theoretical calculations indicate that,compared to aboveground grain granary,underground grain granary significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions in static temperature-controlled grain preservation,thereby facilitating green and sustainable societal development.[Conclusions] The study of energy saving in underground grain storage notonly contributes to the realization of the goal of“double-carbon”,but also reduces energy consumption and costs while improving grain preservation quality. Moreover,this study provides a theoretical basis for the development of energy-saving grain storage technology and the nationwide adoption of underground grain granary.
