[Abstract]Black tooth stain (BTS)ischaracterizedbybrownish-black bandsalong thegingival margin.Itis typically confinedtothecervicalregionoftheteth.TheetiologyofBTSiscloselylinkedtotheoralmicrobiota,particularlybacteria,such asActinomycesand Porphyromonas.Additionally,te useof probiotics mayrepresenta potential therapeutic approach for BTS.Epidemiological studies have demonstrated a significant corelation between BTSand iron supplement use,iron-richdiets,andiron-containingdrinkingwater,withtheexessiveconsumptionofiron-richfoodsincreasingthe risk of developing BTS.Moreover,anassociation exists between ironstatus and dental caries,with iron deficiencyincreasingsusceptibility tocaries.Onthebasisoftheabove findings,thisreviewaims toprovidedietary guidanceforchildrenwithBTS;explorefuture research directionsconcerningthe microbiota involved in BTS;andexaminethe interrela
tionshipamongBTS,dentalcaries,andiron.Thegoalof thisreview isto propose new strategies for the preventionand managementofBTS and dentalcaries.
