Advance in Capsicum annuum germplasm resources

AbstractThe research progress on Capsicum annuum germplasm resources， including 6 aspects： colction， sortingand evaluation，resistance identification，qualityresearch，phenotypic traits，preservation techniques，and development and utilization were reviewed.Interms of thecolection，sorting and evaluation of Capsicum annuum germplasm resources，itis mainlycolected colaboratively byunits such as the Instituteof VegetablesandFlowers of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.More than 2 000 germplasm materials have been stored in the database，and a preliminary evaluation has been conducted on its key horticultural traits，economic characteristicsanddisease resistance.In termsof resistance identification，methods such as root irrigation with zoospores，inoculationof isolated fruits，and field resistance assessmentare thebasic means for resistance identification of Capsicum annuum，which are conducive toobtaining resistance materials.Interms of quality research，through thedetection of Capsicumannuumfruitcomponents，the main agronomic traitsand thecorrelation analysis among them，the preciseand targeted improvementof quality traits is achieved.In terms of phenotypic traits， the phenotypic characteristics of Capsicum annuum show high diversity and variability in germplasmresources.In terms of preservation technology，the preservation method combiningadryer with silicageland plastic bags is suitable for short-tem preservation.Byusing low-temperaturerefrigeration facilitiesand dehumidificationequipment，beter medium and long-term preservation efects can be achieved.In terms of development and utilization， Capsicum annuum is widelyused inthe food，pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries throughvariousutilization methodssuchas fresh consumption，drying，condiment procesing，picklingand processing extraction.This articleprovidesareference forthe creation of Capsicum annuum germplasm resources and the breeding of characteristic varieties.
