Abstract:Optical frequency comb(OFC)have great potential as an excellent multi-wavelength light source in he field of communications.The communication system can havea transmision rate in the orderof a hundred Tbit·s-1 (204號(hào) by combining the OFC light source with wavelength-division-multiplexing(WDM)andspace-division-multiplexing (SDM) technologies,which is of significantapplication value in 5G/6G communications,Internet of Things,andautonomous driving.For an optical communication system that integrates wavelength division multiplexing and spatial divisionmultiplexing technologies,its transmisioncapacity depends onthe numberof channels inboth WDMand SDM,the modulation symbol rate of the system,and the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of the light source.Through an optical system basedona Brillouin lasercavity with dispersion-engineered highly nonlinearfluorotelurite fiber,we can obtain a flat OFC with a wide range of adjustable repetition frequency,spectral coverage of the entire O-U band, andastandard deviationofthecomb intensityofless than5dB intheO-U band.Thispapercalculatesthelinewidth andfrequencynoiseof thecomb teethacrossdiferentbandsof theopticalfrequencycomb,andestablishesaBrillouin optical cavityfiltering model basedon thequantum Langevin equation to verifyits feasibility for opticalcommunication.Thecomputationalresults indicate thattheoptical frequencycomb inthe O-Ubandexhibits narrow linewidths forallcombteeth,withthesystem’snoiselow-pass filteringcharacteristicoriginatingfromthestimulatedBrillouin cavity,and the noise power spectral density at frequencies above 1 MHz being lower than 100Hz*Hz-1/2 .Compared to external-pumped microcavityopticalfrequency combs,this system generates a comb with lower frequency noise in the MHz range,demonstrating that an optical system based on a Brilouin laser cavity and dispersion-engineered highly nonlinearfluorotellurite fibercan generatealow-frequencynoiseflatoptical frequencycomb intheO-Uband for optical communication applications.
