Multi-objective torque distribution strategy for hub motor electric vehicles under emergency steering conditions

Abstract:A multi-objective optimization strategy based on thenon-dominated sorting geneticalgorithml (NSGA-ll)was developed to improve steering stabilityand occupant comfort in hub-motor electric vehicles underemergency steering conditions.The strategy adopted a direct yaw moment control method to design the optimizedobjective function for handling stabilityand occupant comfort,taking intoaccount generalized force equationconstraints such as longitudinaldesired torqueand additional yaw moment.The optimal torque solution was selected in the pareto frontcalculated by NSGA-llaccording to the dynamicconditions of thevehicle.The resultsshow thatcompared to theaxle loadratio (ALR)and weighted least squares (WLS)strategies,for highspeed steering,theroot-mean-squareerrorsof thevehicle sideslipangleandtheyawrateof theoptimization strategy with respect to the reference valuesare reduced by 37.45% 52.08% ,and 41.98% 56.95% respectively, and theamplitudesof its lateralaccelerationand torquearealso smaler.Theefectivenessof the proposed strategyfor torque distributionduring emergency steering of hub-motorelectric vehicles is demonstrated to improve the vehicle steering stability and occupant comfort.
