Analysis of Hail and Ground Lightning Activity Characteristics during A Short-term Strong Convective Weather Process in Lhasa Region

Abstract Analyzed the characteristics of hail and lightning activity during the short-term strong convective weather event that occurred in Lhasa city on July 23, 2020. The results indicated that, there was a good correspondence between the ground lightning frequencies and hail in this process. During the hailing stage, the positive ground lightning frequencies increased, the negative ground lightning weakens, and the proportion of positive ground lightning was the highest; The hailing stage mainly focused on high current intensity between 20~60 kA; The lightning current steepness during hailing was mainly concentrated at 5~10 kA/μs.
