Abstract：The2O25HarbinAsian Winter Games isanimportantopportunity for Chinato constructits national image.Strengthening the grasp of the discourse resources characteristics of mainstream foreign propaganda media is helpful for China to enhance its international sports discourse power.By retrieving the news reports relatedtotheAsian WinterGames publishedinChina Daily from2003 to2024，relyingonVanDijk'stheoretical framework of news discourse analysis and combining with the research paradigm of the corpus，this paper analyzes and extracts thecharacteristics of news discourse from the text perspective.It is found that in terms of the representation of news discourse，China Daily has carried outal-round and multi-anglereports on the sports eventsofAsian Winter Games fromthe aspects ofreporting subjects，reporting themesand social effcts.In terms of the rhetoric ofnews discourse，China Daily has shaped the image ofChina’s iceand snow sports in the new era， which is broad-minded and confident and open，from theaspectsofreporting verbsand metaphors.It is proposed thatdomestic mainstream media should adopt publicity strategies such as constructing multiple subjects to

highlight humanistic exchanges，implementingmultidimensional reports to keep up with the communication cycle，and using discourse rhetoric to reduce emotional biases.By shaping the national image of‘Dream of Winter”，the understandingof the development strategy of large-scale sports events can be continuously

deepened.
