Abstract：Rupture of chordae tendineae is a common complication of myxomatous mitral valve disease（MMVD） indogsand usuallyresults insevere mitral regurgitationaswellas marked dilatation of theatriaand ventricles.As compensation progresss inthe heartsof dogs with tendonrupture，itcanmanifest asreversecardiac remodeling， wherebytheoriginallydilated heartbecomes smalleror evenreturns tonormal.A1O-year-old brown poodlecame to the hospital withsignificant exerciseintolerance.Echocardiographyrevealedaruptured mitral tendoncable with significantsystolicregurgitationandmarkedleftatrialandventricledilatation.Reexaminationof theaffecteddog（at 3-and9-monthspost-diagnosis）revealedagradual improvementinthedegree ofcardiac dilatationto normal size， consistent with cardiac reverseremodelling features.Theaffcteddog hadafavourable prognosisand showeda significant decrease in the frequency of exercise intolerance.Cases of cardiac reverse remodeling are uncommon in clinical practice.Theauthorsreportthelong-termechocardiographicfollow-upanddiagnosisoftheafected dogin this caseinordertoprovidediagnosticideasandreferences fortheclinicaldiagnosisandtreatmentofthis typeof reverse remodellingin MMVD dogswith rupture of chordae tendineae.
