Analysis of the Innovation Trend of Solid-state Hydrogen Storage TechnologyBased on PatentData

Abstract: [Purposes] This paper aims to analyze the innovation trends of solid-state hydrogen storage technology,identifies its technological trends,competitive landscape,and weaknesses in the industrial chain,soas to provide a basis for policy formulation and technological innova - tion in China's hydrogen energy industry.[Methods] This study analyzes global patent data on solid-state hydrogen storage technology retrieved based on the incoPat patent database,explore regional distribution,evolutionary trends, key innovators,and technological composition and analyzes the innovation situation of global solid-state hydrogen storage technology. [Findings] Patent layouts of solid-state hydrogen storage technology exhibit significant regional clustering characteristics,with East Asian region, especially Japan and China, dominating the field.The volume of patent applications has evolved through three phases over time: early exploration,rapid growth,and steady development.In termsof major innovators,Japan is led by enterprises,while China is dominated by universities and research institutions.The technological focus is heavily concentrated in CO1B (preparation of non-metallic elements and their compounds), C22C (composition and preparation technology of alloys),and HO1M (bateriesand electrochemical energy conversion). China has made significant progress in the fields of CO1Band C22C,but stilllagsbehind Japan in H01M technology.[Conclusions] In the future,technological innovation insolid-state hydrogen storage will remain active.China should accelerate the development of an independent and controllable hydrogen energy industrial chain,making efforts in four aspects:technology research and development,industrial collaboration,international partnerships,and policy safeguards.
