Test Research on Anisotropy of Columnar Jointed Rock Mass Based on Three-dimensional Printing

Abstract:Toresearchanisotropyofcolumnar jointedrock massunderuniaxialcompressive load,columnar jointednetworkswith diferent joint dipangles were prepared byusing thre-dimensional printing technologytaking polyvinylalcohol as consumable expenditure. Gypsum plaster was used to prepare rock-like specimens of columnar jointed rock mass by using oe-timepouring molding construction technology.Anisotropic mechanical behavior of the prepared specimens under uniaxial compressive load was analyzed.Theresults showthat with the increaseof joint dipangles,uniaxial compressive strengths ofthespecimens initially increase and then decrease folowed bya sharp increase.There are minimum values at joint dip angles of 0° and 60° . Elastic modulus shows a trend of decreasing first and then increasing. Anisotropy ratiosof compressve strengthand elastic modulus of the specimensare37.65and314,respectively.Britledamagecharacteristics of the specimens with joint dip angles of 15o and 90o are significant,while the specimens with a joint dip angle of 75° show obvious ductile damage characteristics. The specimens with joint dip angles less than 45° mainly undergo shear failure perpendicular to axial direction of columns.The specimens with joint dip angles from 45° to 75° mainly undergo shear failure along axial direction of columns.At a joint dip angle of 90° ,main damage modes include column damage andtension damageof joints.Stiffessof joint hasasignificantinfluenceonanisotropic behaviorsofcolumnar jointedrock mass.Whenusing rock-likematerials toresearch mechanical properties ofcolumnar jointedrock mas,influencesof joint manufacturing methods on anisotropy characteristics of rock-like specimens of columnar jointedrock mass should be considered.
