Abstract:Theauxetic honeycomb structures,due to theiruniqueauxetic efect,have considerable potential for application in the field of energyabsorption.To further improve their mechanical performance,this paper proposes a novelbio-inspiredhierarchicalorigamiauxetichoneycombstructure,combiningbio-inspiredhierarchicaldesignand origamistructure.Numerical simulationsareconducted tosystematicallyinvestigate thecrashworthinessof the structures underaxial compresion.Theresultsshow that,compared with the traditional auxetic honeycomb structure, theenergyabsorption capacityof the novel bio-inspired hierarchical origami auxetic honeycomb structureis significantly enhanced.Moreover,the introductionof theorigami design ensures moreuniformdeformation during the axial crushing process,and effctively reduces or even eliminates the initial peak force of the structures.
