Acupoint application of Chinese medicine relieves pain of primary hepatocellular carcinoma：a Meta-analysis

AbstractObjective：To systematically evaluate acupoint application of Chinese medicine for the treatment of pain in primary hepatocellular carcinoma.Methods：Computer searches were performed on CNKI，WanFang Database，VIP，CBM，PubMed，the Cochrane Library，Web of Science，and EMbase，and the search period was from the time of database construction to May 21，2022. Randomized controlled trials that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were screened，and data were extracted and analyzed using RevMan 5.4 software.Results：A total of 14 Chinese-language papers involving 1，060 study subjects were included. Meta-analysis results showed that compared with Western medicine alone，Chinese acupoint application combined with Western medicine or Chinese acupoint application alone could increase the effective rate of pain relief in primary hepatocellular carcinoma patients （RR=1.19，95%CI 1.09-1.30，P=0.000 1），reduce the incidence of adverse reactions （RR=0.30，95%CI 0.20-0.44，P<0.000 01），alleviate the symptoms of qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome （MD=－0.86，95%CI -0.98--0.75，P=0.000 5），and decreasing the pain scores （SMD=－2.80，95%CI －3.58-－2.02，P<0.000 01），but there was no significant difference in the improvement of the primary hepatocellular carcinoma patients′ quality of life，the difference was not statistically significant （RR=1.16，95%CI 0.97-1.38，P=0.10）.Conclusion：Existing evidence suggests that combining traditional Chinese medicine acupoint therapy with conventional Western medicine can effectively alleviate the incidence of pain，reduce pain and the incidence of adverse reactions in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
