AbstractObjective：ToobservetheefectofstagednursingbasedonSnyder'stheoryofhopeonthepreoperativefraltyanddespair levelsofprimarylivercancerpatients.Methods：Atotalof14patientswithprimarylivercancerhounderwentsurgical teatmetiur hospitalfromDecember222toDecember2O23wereselected，ndwererandomlydividedintoacontrolgroupandahopegroup，with 70casesineachgroup.Bothgroupsreceivedroutineperioperativecare.Thepatientsincontrolgroupreceivedconventionalpsychological intervention.Thepatients inhopegroupadoptedstagedcarebasedonSnyderstheoryofhope.Thescoresof theChineseversionof EdmontoFrail Scale（EFS），Mini-Mental State Examination（MMSE）and Beck Hopelessness Scale（BHS）of twogroupsof patients beforeandaftertheoperationwerecompared.Results：TeEFSscoresofthepatientsinthehopegrouponthedayofsurgeryandthe third day after surgery were all lower than those in the control groupe ..-0.05， ，the MMSE scores were higher than those in the control group（ P<0.05） .Three daysaftertheoperation，the total scoreofBHSand the scoresof alldimension in the hope group were lower than thoseatadmissioAndtepereptioftefutureexpectatiosfortefutureandtetotalscoreinteopegroupwereallowertan those in the control group P<0.05 0.The icidence of postoperative complications in the hope group was lower than that in the control group（ P<0.05 .Conclusions：Staged nursing based on Snyder's theoryof hope forpatients undergoing primary livercancer surgery could improvethefrailtycognitivefunctionand postoperativedespairlevel，andreducetheriskofpostoperativecomplications.
