Modeling and evaluation method for influence of composite guidance turntable on radar angle measurement based on electromagnetic simulation

Abstract:In the construction of hardware-in-the-loop(HWIL) simulation test system for radio frequency (RF)/infrared(IR) composite guidance,thedesign of turntables for RF/IR composite guidance is one of the key and difficult points.Thisarticle focuses onan RF/IR composite guidance turntable consistingof a five axis turntable and infrared compositeequipment added to its two outer axes,and hopes to evaluate its impact on the accuracy of angle measurement errorof the tested radar by electromagnetic simulation,to meet the demand for thedesign of RF/IR composite guidance turntable.For that,a hybrid full-wave electromagnetic (EM) modeling method is proposed based on the domain decomposition.The proposed modeling method achieves high confidence numerical simulation of the HWIL simulation scenario where the waves radiated from an antenna reach the tested radar through a heterogeneous composite guidance turntable.Then,with EM field distribution obtained based on modeling and simulation,a calculation method for radar angle measurement error is proposed viaintegrating the principles of electromagnetic reciprocityand monopulse amplitude-comparison angle measurement.Numerical simulation experiments including several typical heterogeneous composite guidance turntables is conducted to verify the accuracy and capability of the proposed method.It demonstrates the proposed method has potential to support the design of RF/IRcomposite guidance turntables,especially infrared composite equipment.
