Effects of acid stimulation and ice stimulation on dysphagia：a Meta-analysis

AbstractObjective：To compare the effect of acid stimulation and ice stimulation on dysphagia.Methods：Studies on the effect of acid stimulation and ice stimulation on dysphagia were searched from the Cochrane Library，EMbase，Web of Science，PubMed，EBSCO，CNKI，WanFang Database and VIP.The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to July 31，2021.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria，2 researchers independently screened each database，extracted data，and assessed the methodological quality of included studies.RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta-analysis.Results：A total of 12 literatures were included.Meta-analysis results showed that acid stimulation or acid ice combined stimulation was better than ice stimulation in improving dysphagia［RR=1.25，95%CI（1.09，1.44），P=0.001］.However，there was no significant difference between acid stimulation or acid ice combined stimulation and ice stimulation in shortening pharyngeal transport time［SMD=-0.16，95%CI（-0.34，0.03），P=0.10］ and reducing complication rate［RR=0.56，95%CI（0.24，1.30），P=0.18］.Conclusion：Current evidence shows that acid stimulation and ice stimulation is more effective and safer than ice stimulation on dysphagia.Vitamin C and vinegar are better acid stimulation materials.
