This article expounds on the introduction and evolutionof Zen philosophy in Japan， takes the architecturalworks by modern Japanese architect Tadao Ando as anexample， and analyzes Zen p hilosophical thinking in theseworks. Zen thought still radiates full of vitality in Japanafter it was imported from foreign countries， becameinternalized and was inherited to modernist architecture.This furnishes new ideas and methods to combine localtraditional culture with modern architectural design，which is of enlightening significance.
