Abstract:Lysine,a fundamental aminoacid crucial for human andanimal nutrition,also serves pivotal roles in aminoacid homeostasis,growth,development,stressresilienceand nutritionalqualityof plants.The biosynthesis, metabolic processes,absorptionandtranslocationof lysine inplantsdirectlyorindirectlyaffectlysinecontentand its functions.Whilethemetabolicpathwaysoflysineinplantshavebeenrelativelywellcharacterized,thephysiological andmolecular mechanisms underlying itsbeneficial efects onplants remainlargelyunclear.Inthis paper,therecent advancementsinunderstandingtherolesand potential regulatorymechanismsofkeygenes involvedin lysineuptake and metabolic pathways in plants were summarized,andthe roles and posible regulatory mechanismsof key lysine absorption and metabolism genes in plant stressresistance,disease resistance,seed germination and improvement of cropquality wereparticularly elabrcted.Additionall,itreviewed theprogress inbreeding lysine-rich crops.Above resultsoferedvaluableinsightsandguidelinesforelucidating themechanismsregulating lysine transport and metabolismincereal crops,thereby enhancing stress toleranceand fostering the development of novel lysineenriched crop varieties.
