Abstract：Atherosclerosis is the main cause of many cardiovascular diseases.In recent years，the incidence of atherosclerosis is graduall increased with thechanges of diet structureand liferhythms.As themain pathological product of atherosclerosis，restoring the normal structure and functionof blood vessels by plaques regression has beena major problem.The theoryof "veins generating phlegm node"forthe plaques hasbeen put forward in Chinese medicine， and the plaques are clasified into the categoryof "phlegm node"at macroscopic level，but the immune mechanismof monocytes in the process of plaques formation is not discussed in depth.Through the analogy of Chinese medicine thinking，the formationof "phlegmnode"is further related to the diferentiation，phagocytosis and accumulationof monocytes，and the mechanism of Chinese medicine in regressng plaques is explored so as to explore a new meting point for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis with Chinese medicine.
