Exploration of causal relationship between abnormal cervical （vaginal） discharge and preterm premature rupture of membranes based on Mendelian randomization

【Abstract】ObjectiveTo explorecausal relationship betweenabnormalcervical（vaginal）secretionand premature rupture of membranes（PROM） by Mendelian randomization（MR）.MethodsSingle nucleotide polymorphisms（SNPs）in GWAS database were used as instrumental variables（IV），and P values in the inverse variance weighted（IVW）were used as main basisforestimatingbidirectionalcausalitybetweenabnormalcervical（vaginal）dischargeandPROM.Sensitivityanalysiswas usedtoevaluatetherobustnessof theanalysisresults.ResultsTherewasacausal relationshipbetweenabnormal cervical （vaginal） discharge and PROM（ OR=1 . 124， 95% CI=1.041--1.213 ： P=0.002 ）.In reverse MR analysis，PROMhad a causal relationship with abnormal cervical（vaginal）discharge（ OR=1.037 ，95 % CI=1.004-1.071 ， P=0.028 ）． The resultsofsensitivityanalysiswererobust，andtherewasnohorizontal pleiotropyand heterogeneityamong the SNPS.ConclusionThere is a bidirectional causal relationship between abnormal cervical （vaginal） discharge and PROM.
