Abstract：To improve the processing capacity of the shale shaker，meet the needs of diferent working conditions in the driling process，and solve the problems of“screen blinding”and“mud runaway”occurring in the existingshale shaker，a“l(fā)inear + variable elliptical”dual-track shale shaker was proposed. Then，using the discrete element method（DEM） coupled with the dynamics of multi-body system （MBD），a joint simulation calculation was conducted on the dual-track shale shaker and cutings particles.Finally，the motion trajectory and throwing index on the screen surface under two vibration modes，the motion behavior of various cutings particles in the screening process and the sieving performance were investigated.The research results show that the throwing index and vibration direction angle of the screening surface gradually decrease from the feding end to the discharging endunder the variable eliptical trajectory，which is favorable for achieving solid-liquidseparation and liquid phase penetration of driling fluid at the feeding end and reducing the probability of cutings particle crushing and screen blinding at the discharging end.At the time of stable screening，theeasilythrough-sieve particles are basically at the botom of the materiallayerorhave passed the sieve，whilethe difcult through-sieveand no-throughsieve particlesare in the middle and upper layers of the material layer.Under the variable ellptical trajectory，the through-sieverate of various cuttings particles is higher than that under the linear trajectory，the average throughsieve time is lessthan that under linear trajectory，and the average migration velocity is greater than that under linear trajectory.The research results provide reference for solid treatment at drilling site.
