Reliability Study of Centrifugal Compressor Impeller Based on Erosion Failure

Abstract:There is alack of systematic analysison how erosion behavior affcts the long-term reliability of centrifugal compressor impeller(hereinafterreferred toas impeller).In thispaper,bycombining erosion failure andreliabilityanalysis,a structural reliabilitycalculation modelof impeler basedon erosion failure was established with the synergy of numerical simulation,data-driven simulationand Monte Carlo simulation.This model enables thequantitativecalculationofthestructuralreliabilityofimpeller.Theresultsshow that,atdiferentrotationspeeds,theerosion-induced deteriorationof theimpellerisfastestintheoperation periodof1-3year,and it is relativelyfastintheoperationtimeof2-3year,sotheimpellerrotorshouldbetestedforcracks.Intheoperation period of 1-6 year, the failure rate due to erosion ranges from 16. 13% to 84.35% at low rotation speed (5,660r/ (204號 min),and from 83.91% to 99.84% at high speed ( 9,960r/min ).Thus,the impeller should avoid long-term operation at high speed.The research findings provide a reference for the reliability calculation and maintenance decision-making of compressor equipment in oil and gas stations.
