Abstract Objective:To translate the Chronic Illness Rejection and Discrimination Scale(CIRDS) and test its reliability and validity in cancer patients. Methods:CIRDS was translation, back translation, and cultural adaptation according to the Brislin translation model, and the Chinese version of CIRDS was formed through pre-investigation.A total of 251 cancer patients who visited at the outpatient and inpatient departments of the oncology department of two tertiary grade A hospitals in Sichuan province from January to June 2022 were selected as respondents to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of CIRDS.Results:The Chinese version of CIRDS included 3 dimensions(family and friend discrimination, workplace and school discrimination, and other discrimination) with a total of 11 items. The cumulative variance contribution rate of 3 common factors extracted by exploratory factor analysis was 74.092%.The confirmatory factor analysis showed that chi?square degree of freedom ratio was 2.578,root mean square residual was 0.079,goodness of fit index was 0.929,normal of fit index was 0.934,renal function index was 0.912,incremental fit index was 0.959,Tucker?Lewis index was 0.944,comparative goodness of fit index was 0.958,all>0.9.The composite reliability of the 3 factor combinations of the Chinese version of CIRDS were 0.860,0.862 and 0.891,and the average variance extracted were 0.676,0.677 and 0.626,respectively.The square root of the average variance extracted was greater than the correlation coefficient between each dimension. The item-level content validity index of the Chinese version CIRDS were from 0.8 to 1.0,the scale-level-content validity index/universal agreement was 0.8,the overall Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.800,and the retest reliability coefficient was 0.908.Conclusions:The Chinese version of CIRDS has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool to measure the level of perceived discrimination in cancer patients.
