Numerical simulation analysis of laser welding of marine aluminum alloy plate based on FLUENT

Abstract:To obtain the optimal laser welding process parameters, taking the marine aluminum alloy plates as the study object,the welding temperature field and flow field models are built in FLUENT software for simulation analysis. The actual force and boundary conditions are loaded at the model,and the molten pool morphology and the temperature and velocity distribution cloud at diferent welding speeds are obtained. The results indicate that under certain welding conditions,the welding speed has a significant impact on the morphology and temperature field of the molten pool: while the welding speed is fast,the metal fluid flow is uneven,the temperature field distribution is disordered,and the morphology of the molten pool is complex and unstable;while the welding speed is slow,there is a large gradient temperature distribution in the molten pool,and the metal fluid flow is weak;choosing the appropriate welding speed is essential to achieve better products.
