Relationship between metabolic score for insulin resistance and overactive bladder in the US population based on NHANES data from 20o5 to 2018

ABSTRACT:ObjectiveTo assessthe association between the metabolic score for insulin resistance index (METS-R)and overactive bladder(OAB)inthe US population,soas toexplore the potentialofMETS-IR as a predictive toolfor OABrisk and to provide insights forearlyscrening and intervention strategies.MethodsBasedonthedata fromtheNational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005-2018 ,a cross-sectional design was employed,and multivariate logistic regresion models were used to analyze the association between METS-IR and OAB.METS-IR was analyzed both as a continuous variableandcategorized intoquartiles.Tofurthervalidatetheassociation between METS-IRand OABacro diversepopulations,subgroupanalyses wereconductedinparticipants stratifiedbyclinicalcharacteristics.Smooth curve fiting was employed to testthe linearityof the METS-IR-OABrelationship.ResultsElevated METS-IR wasasociated withan increased risk of OAB ( P<0.001 ,and this positive correlation remained stable when METS-IR was categorized into quartiles ( P<0.001) .Subgroup analyses revealed that the asociation between METS-IR and OAB was more pronounced in females, participants younger than 55 years,and non-diabetic individuals ( P<0.05? ). Furthermore,smooth curve fitting confirmed a linear postivecorelationbetween METs-IRandOAB,withthis linearrelationshipobservedinbothdiabeticandnon-diabetic groups.ConclusionThis study,based on the NHANES 2005-2018 database,found a linear positive correlation between METS-IR and OAB.
