Abstract：The narativeof western objects is a unique way for late Qing narators to understand heterogeneous cultures and civilizations，construct ideal national states，and experienceurban material modernity.Among them，the highdensitydepictionof "technological objects"infantasynovelsand "daily-useobjects" insociallrealistic novels espec一 tively presents the "investigation ofthings"tendency under thetradition of naming objectsand the "fetish" tedency under the influenceof urban commercial ethics.Byleveraging the fictional literaryspace，thenaratorsof the late QingDynastyrecorded themost fashionablemodern knowledgeandthe most touching culturalartifacts into their texts，therebyshaping the historyofWesternLearning spreading totheEast through literary means.Whilefacilitating the modern transformation of modern literature，this approach also fils in the indispensable gap inthe late Qing Dynasty for the "narrative history of objects" in Chinese literature.
